Bringing the old layout back

Original GameCube controllers are getting harder to find in good shape, and used ones often come with worn sticks or sticky triggers. This is a new controller built in the same layout: the big A button, the kidney-shaped X and Y, the C-stick, and the analog shoulder triggers. It is a good fit for platform-fighter players, families getting an old GameCube back out of the closet, or anyone who needs extra controllers for four-player nights.

To be clear: this is a third-party controller, not made or licensed by Nintendo. It is meant to be a solid, affordable stand-in, not an exact replica of the original feel.

Compatibility

• GameCube: plugs directly into the controller port
• Original Wii (with GameCube ports): plugs directly in. The Wii Mini and later Wii models without GameCube ports will not work.
• Nintendo Switch, Wii U and PC: works with a GameCube controller adapter, sold separately. Our 4-Port GameCube Controller Adapter is built for this.

Tips for the best experience

• On Switch, check that the adapter is set to the right mode if it has a switch on it, and that wired Pro Controller communication is enabled in the console settings if needed.
• Give the stick a quick calibration if your game or system offers it. Third-party sticks can feel slightly different from originals.
• If you play competitively, try it in training mode before a tournament. Trigger feel and stick tension may not match an original controller exactly.

What to expect

Clicky buttons, a stick that is new instead of worn, and a fair price for a spare. What you should not expect is a perfect match for a 2001 controller in weight and texture. Most casual players will not notice. Some long-time competitive players will.
